Networking and Security Architecture with VMware NSX-T 3.x.x

This is the first blog post of a series of blog posts covering VMware NSX-T 3.x.x Networking and Security Architecture. We will discuss NSX-T 3.x.x Architecture, NSX-T Concepts and Designs, NSX-T Deployment and Configurations, and NSX-T Troubleshooting Topics.

What I’m trying to deliver is to give an overall understanding of VMware NSX-T by Setting up an NSX-T Lab from scratch using Nested Virtualization while discussing the topics mentioned above. It starts by deploying the NSX-T Manager, preparing and configuring ESXi Nodes for NSX-T binary installation, deploying and configuring NSX-T Edge Nodes, and finally configuring Logical Switching and Routing to achieve East-West and North-South Connectivity. I have arranged the whole series that covers 21 blog posts including screen captures.

Since VMware NSX-T has been around a long time We aren’t going to discuss an introduction to the product. Instead, We straightaway start with the NSX-T Portfolios. If anyone wants to learn the NSX-T introduction, I have included the links to VMware’s NSX-T Product Page at end of the blog post.

With VMware, NSX-T now companies can Connect and Protect Any Workloads Across Any Environment. It’s a Software Layer providing connectivity from the Data Center to Public Cloud to Edge Infrastructure, with Data Visibility and Security.

There are three main NSX-T Portfolios included in this post,

VMware NSX-T, Portfolio 1

NSX-T Data Center provides consistent Networking and Security across the entire IT environment. Behind the NSX-T is a robust portfolio of products that build on the foundations of the concept of any Infrastructure, any Cloud, any Application, any Platform, and any Device.
